Welcome

Welcome to the official website for Sam Hepfner for Congress. I want to thank you for your interest, and I encourage you to read through the entire site. If you have a question or concern that is not addressed, please feel free to e-mail me, and I will answer you to the best of my ability.

First, why should you NOT vote for our current congressman Charlie Wilson? I want you to honestly think of what Mr. Wilson has accomplished. What business and jobs has he brought to our district? The only thing that he has really done for business growth in this district is to sponsor a bill that would require the Air Force to continue to buy their jet fuel from the proposed coal to liquid fuel plant near East Liverpool, even if oil dropped below a certain price (a rather low price). This plant would be operational, or close to it, by now, except that the Federal Government pulled their loan guarantee because environmentalists threatened to sue. Did Mr. Wilson fight for the loan that would create 5,000 construction jobs and 300 to 500 good-paying, long-term jobs for the district? NO!

When Charlie Wilson campaigned for this seat, he was anti-earmark, yet he voted for over 9,000 of them. He was anti-abortion, yet he has repeatedly supported this healthcare legislation that will contain laws that will force insurance companies to provide coverage for abortion and possibly will even use your taxpayer dollars for abortion. He was (so he said) a fiscal conservative, but he has voted for every spending bill that President Obama and Congresswoman Pelosi have proposed. Charlie Wilson is not our representative; he is a second vote for Nancy Pelosi.

That is why you should not vote for Charlie Wilson.

Why should you vote for me? I have never run for a public office. Neither have I ever held a public office. There is very little past information about me to help you make a decision concerning my bid for election. Please listen to my arguments and my sincerity, and then make your decision. I am in this race for this congressional seat because I love my country and my children. The direction this government is taking this country is leading to its bankruptcy and a very hard life for my children and grandchildren and yours, also. I pride myself on my common sense and my sense of responsibility, and that, most of all, is what I want to bring back to our government.

Common sense tells us that our government cannot keep spending more money than it takes in. We MUST balance the budget! We do not elect representatives to Washington so they can dodge the hard decisions, take the easy way out, and fund every request to please all of the special interest groups. As your representative, I will have to say “no” to a lot of spending projects. Your government cannot keep giving away money. We also cannot keep raising taxes. History has shown us--clear back to the 1920's--that raising taxes causes job loss. Job loss is the biggest issue we currently face. I have several ideas that would create jobs, some nationally, some locally. Please read the Jobs, Jobs, Jobs section for those. Again, common sense says that the more jobs there are the more income taxes there are. Fewer government expenditures for unemployment, Medicaid, etc., will result in a smaller deficit.

Common sense tells us that we take care of our own family before we help our neighbor. Therefore, we need to drastically cut back on the money we give to foreign governments--many of them unfriendly to us.

Common sense says that the more oil that is available, the cheaper it will be. We need to allow U.S. oil companies to drill for the cheapest oil available--wherever it is. There is no reason for environmentalists to oppose oil companies. They need to work together using advanced technology and proven methods to safely drill for oil. The less money you spend on gasoline and home heating fuel, the more you will have to spend on other things--that will put Americans back to work.

Common sense also tells us that if we want to be safe, we must be able to control who comes into our country. We must secure our borders! Read more under Immigration.

These are just a few examples of what I believe and what I intend to do. Please click on the topics on the left to read more. The bottom line is you should vote for the person who best represents you and what you want to happen with your country.

If you would like to be involved in this campaign, please click on Volunteer on the top of the screen. If you are able to and would like to donate to this campaign, please click on Donate on the top of your screen. While I dislike asking for donations and money, it takes a lot of money to advertise in this district because of the area it covers. Every penny, from the smallest to the largest donation will be appreciated. Together we CAN make a difference in our country's future. Thank you and have a great day!
